How to Make Good Coffee

!±8± How to Make Good Coffee

I love good coffee and am in fact brewing some as I type. Unfortunately there is lots of mediocre to bad coffee in this world which is scarcely worth drinking. In the end it all comes down to taste, what you enjoy, but let's look at some basics.

Good coffee is made with good freshly roasted beans, preferably freshly ground right before brewing.  All coffee fans should own a coffee grinder for sure. For those who regularly drink "canned" coffee, I hope you enjoy it, but it simply cannot compare. It's like comparing frozen fish sticks (canned coffee) with fresh wild caught Alaskan salmon (freshly roasted and ground beans). They both have their places, but one is clearly superior overall.

You need good water as well. Now your tap water is probably absolutely fine, but in some areas, for example my office, the water tastes so foul you can taste it through the coffee. I buy cheap jugs of water to make coffee in the office.

You need to use enough ground coffee as well. Too little, and even if you manage to get the coffee strong enough, it will be bitter and overextracted. Now how strong you like you coffee is a matter of personal preference, as is whether you use creamer, sugar, or god forbid some of that artificial cream like stuff full of chemicals.

Coffee is all about enjoyment. Make it however you like. Use whatever type of coffee maker you like. Hopefully my tips have been helpful, but in the end it's up to what you like.
